Legal pitfalls for professionals using computer records

An essential guide to the pitfalls posed to business proprietors, particularly the professions (accountants, dentists, architects etc, who use a computer that, in any way, hold records connected with the data shown on their tax return. Disturbingly, in a recent case before the Court it was established that HMRC had the right to remove, without prior notice, 19 computers in an unannounced visit to a firm’s premises.
